Medical Receptionist - Phone Operator

Job Summary

The Phone Operator is responsible for answering all incoming calls into the practice and providing timely, professional customer service to the caller

Responsibilities

  •  Direct incoming calls to appropriate departments

  • Address messages from overnight service

  • Receive new consultations throughout the day

  • Updating doctors’ hospital cards

  • Prepare on-call coverage for the evening and weekend

  • Enter meetings on the physician calendar per the direction of Administration

  • Inform physicians of the next day schedules

  • Address calls efficiently through proper screening process and with timely response

  • Assists medical records clerks in scanning records into patients’ charts

Required Skills
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a fast-paced, high call volume environment

  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff

  • Attention to detail; ability to multi-task and prioritize within a fast-paced environment, required

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, required

  • High level of proficiency with computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office, Electronic Medical Records, etc.)

  • Ability to remain flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient

Education/Experience

High School Diploma and proficiency in medical terminology
