Summary of Position:
The Clinical Research Secretary is responsible for maintaining the clinical research documentation by updating and filing patient charts, regulatory binders and protocol files. The Clinical Research Secretary is responsible for tumor registry; informing the state of all reportable cancers.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists with the initial preparation of protocol study by ensuring that the pharmaceutical sponsor receives the necessary documents in a timely manner and performs pre-certification tasks for protocol patients by requesting hospital records

Fulfills protocol requirements by releasing weekly screening logs and accrual forms to pharmaceutical sponsors to initiate reimbursement

Ensure that the proper version of each study is filed correctly by coordinating with the Data Manager and maintaining adequate copies of protocol and consent forms readily available if needed

Responsible for all test scheduling related to clinical research patients (i.e. precertification’s, pre-authorizations)

Maintain all clinical research files / documents; patient database and accruals; submitting patient scans into various electronic systems for study sponsors

Maintains regulatory binders by renewing physicians’ CV’s, renewing annual documents such as lab permits and clias
Tumor Registry

Maintains tumor registry reporting requirements; abstracting charts with pertinent information regarding diagnosis and electronically submitted to state agencies
General Skills/Requirements
-
Prior experience within a medical office setting, required
-
Minimum of one (1) year prior experience with medical coding
-
Prior experience with regulatory requirements as they relate to clinical research; tumor registry, etc.

Prior knowledge of insurance pre-certification requirements

Attention to detail, excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize and multi-task within a fast-paced environment

Excellent computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office, Electronic Medical Records, etc.)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to gather and record protocol patient data and file it appropriately
-
Prior understanding of medications and regimens commonly administered to hematology and oncology patients

High level of customer service / customer focus, required
Education/Experience
High School diploma or equivalent
