Position Summary
The Lab Assistant is responsible for assisting physicians by collecting blood specimens and any other specimens requested, while obtaining and distributing lab test results accordingly. In addition, the Lab Assistant works with the Laboratory Supervisor to perform administrative tasks associated with the functioning of the lab.
Minimum Qualifications
-
High School graduate or equivalent
-
Certification in phlebotomy
-
Minimum of 1-year to 3 years prior experience performing venipuncture
-
Flexible schedule
-
Prior experience with medical terminology and medical diagnosis codes

Excellent computer skills, prior experience with electronic medical record

Ability to comfort and accommodate patients

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Ability to gather relevant data especially insurance information in order to send specimens to appropriate destinations

Attention to detail; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Team player, a must

Additionally, the candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrate concern for the health and well-being of others, have superior written and oral communication skills, as well as computer literacy including electronic medical record documentation and the ability to work both as a team member and independently within a fast-paced work environment.
