Patient Front Desk

Position Summary

To maintain a well-organized physician practice by coordinating patient flow and upholding provider schedules while maintaining focus on the patient. Must be friendly, dependable, able to multi-task and work both independently and as part of a team in a busy, fast-paced front office environment.

Job Description
  • Maintains accurate patient flow by registering and guiding patients to the correct department in a timely manner.

  • Optimizes patient satisfaction and provider time by scheduling appointments per orders

  • Ensures accurate and timely payment of care by collecting insurance co-payments and any outstanding balances during the check-in process.

  • Answers phone calls and sends letters to patients when necessary.

  • Preserves up-to-date patient demographics and updates patient information by collecting any insurance change data.

  • Comforts patients by greeting them upon their arrival and departure in a warm, friendly manner while maintaining an orderly reception area.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Knowledge of clerical procedures, especially computer skills.

  • Strong ability to multi-task, communicate with co-workers and patients both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to gather and record patient data.

  • Adheres to the practice’s policies and procedures

  • Maintains a professional demeanor during work hours including, but not limited to; appearance, language and courtesy.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize.

  • Accepts scheduled opening and closing office responsibilities and adjusts their schedule accordingly.

  • Ability to interact with doctors, physician assistants and nurses.

  • Preserves quality service by following organizational standards.

  • Maintains strict confidentiality of patient information as required by HIPAA.

  • Maintains a safe patient environment and reports any potential safety issues.

  • Performs and completes other related job duties or projects as assigned by the practice’s management staff.
