Billing Clerk - A/R

Summary of Position:

Primary responsibility will be following up, on both insurance AR and patient collections. We are seeking an experienced and dedicated professional with a background in medical billing.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Timely management of unpaid claims through aging reports, open tickets, clearinghouse and rejections from insurance companies.

  • Collections on outstanding accounts both from medical insurance and patient accounts

  • Abilities to read and understand HCFA regulations, Medicare, Medicaid updates, with ability to prioritize and work independently.

  • Responsible for making calls to medical insurance and patients for outstanding accounts.

  • Contributes to team effort by assisting others in the department to accomplish their tasks when needed.

  • Preserves quality service by following departmental organizational standards.

  • Maintains patient privacy by keeping all billing information confidential; HIPAA compliant.

Skills and Abilities
  • Minimum of two (2) years of medical billing experience, required

  • Prior experience with medical billing collections, preferred

  • Excellent data entry and computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office, Electronic Medical Records, etc.)Ability to find relevant billing information and report financial data

  • Experience resolving billing discrepancies involving charges and payments

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to multi-task within a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
